Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 are on the rise in Quebec: 165 more were recorded on Monday. The province is also reporting 15,293 new cases and 15 additional deaths.
The new cases bring the seven-day average daily case to 14,984. The trend is thus up by 87%.
The 15 additional deaths bring the daily average to 12, significantly more than the average of five recorded last week.
A total of 1,396 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, which represents a 127% increase over one week. Of these, 181 are in intensive care, 19 more than the day before.
Regarding vaccination, 84.9% of Quebecers received their first dose of vaccine. The proportion of the population having received two injections is 77.8%. Finally, 16.2% of Quebecers received three doses of the vaccine.
Vaccination for 5 to 11 year olds is progressing very slowly, as 56.4% of young people have received their first dose as of Monday.
Starting Tuesday, people aged 55 to 59 will be able to make their appointment for their third dose of the vaccine. People aged 50 to 54 will follow on Thursday. From January 21, all people 18 years of age and over will be able to make an appointment for their third injection.
