The Weeknd begins 2022 in a big way with the surprise announcement of the release of a new album called “Dawn FM” which will be available on Friday.
The Toronto-born artist shared the news Monday on his social media platforms.
A short promotional video uploaded shows clips of music videos and unveils a list of collaborator names including actor Jim Carrey, musician and producer Quincy Jones, as well as artists like Tyler, The Creator and Lil Wayne.
“Dawn FM” is the first original album released by The Weeknd since the resounding success of “After Hours”, released in early 2020. The tracks “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears” have propelled the musician to the star rank.
He has since collaborated with many artists on song projects and has been headlining the 2021 Super Bowl halftime show.
Mystery surrounds actor Jim Carrey’s contribution to the project, but in an interview with GQ magazine last year, The Weeknd revealed that they had formed a friendship with the actor after realizing that they were neighbors in Los Angeles and shared a passion for telescopes.
