the CGT requests an extraordinary CSE to have “explanations from management”

The secretary of the Nestlé Social and Economic Council (CSE) requests the holding of an extraordinary CSE after the Anses report on widespread contamination with bacteria, pesticides, Pfas, of natural mineral water sources exploited by the Nestlé group in France and particularly in the Vosges, indicates the CGT of Nestlé, Thursday April 4 in a press release. The extraordinary CSE must make it possible to obtain “as quickly as possible the management’s explanations and its feedback on ANSES’s conclusions”.

The CGT of Nestlé Waters Supply Est (NWSE) says “very surprised” of the announcement made by the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (ANSES). The union recalls that the ARS, “a state body, through numerous controls on our water and drilling, guarantees the food safety of our bottled water”. “It seems inconceivable to us that it would have authorized their marketing if the health quality was not assured.”

No “hasty conclusions”

Having not been able to consult the Anses report – submitted to the government in February – the CGT does not want “draw hasty conclusions” but the union assures to remain “very vigilant”. Depending on the responses obtained from Nestlé management during this CSE, the CGT reserves the right to request “an appointment very quickly” with the prefect of the Vosges department.

The union specifies that behind the Nestlé brands, “there are workers, who, with all their professional conscience and respect for the procedures requested by their employer, produce bottled water which must be of quality”. But the CGT assures that if Nestlé managers have “deceived the State, consumers, employees and their representatives, they will have to answer for their actions”.
