After two hours of mass in front of Saint Peter’s Square (Vatican) filled with faithful, Pope Francis closed Holy Week on Sunday March 31. His urbi et orbi blessing, given to the city and the world, was largely dedicated to the victims of conflicts. “I call for a general exchange of all prisoners between Russia and Ukraine. (…) Furthermore, I call once again for the access of humanitarian aid to Gaza to be guaranteed , urging once again for a rapid release of the hostages, kidnapped on October 7th.demanded the Pope.
A fear of attack
After a few hours of uncertainty following his absence on Friday during the Stations of the Cross ceremony, by presiding over the Easter vigil on Saturday, Pope Francis reassured the whole world. Pilgrims reassured and full of hope came to attend mass on Sunday morning. This ceremony, among the most attended of the year, brought together 60,000 faithful in Rome (Italy), which was placed under close surveillance for fear of an attack.
