Salim Berrada, nicknamed the “Tinder rapist”, was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Friday March 29 by the criminal court of Paris. He was convicted of twelve rapes and three sexual assaults, against women he met on dating sites and social networks. For two other women, the court acquitted him, cconsidering that the evidence was lacking and that “the doubt” should benefit him.
The court held the “particularly organized character”A “proven operating procedure” and the “serial nature of these crimes and offenses”judge “particularly worrying”as “the multiplication of the number of victims” in a time “shorter and shorter”particularly in 2016, indicated President Thierry Fusina.
Salim Berrada, of Moroccan nationality, was also ordered to leave the country permanently at the end of his prison sentence. The day before, the prosecution had requested a sentence of 19 years in prison for this 38-year-old man prosecuted for rapes and sexual assaults committed between 2014 and 2016.
