These filmmakers who return with series
Louis Bélanger (Gas Bar Blues) offers a sequel to Black beastoriginally produced by Sophie Deraspe (Antigone). For the second season of the successful series (it should be noted that it was broadcast throughout the American continent and in a good part of the French-speaking world), the public finds the psychiatrist Éliane Sirois, played again by Sophie Cadieux (Let go), and detective sergeant Jasmin Boisvert, to whom Martin Dubreuil (Félix and Meïra) lends its features. After investigating a killing carried out by a teenager, the duo tries to get to the bottom of an infanticide, with the help of defense lawyer Michelle Simon, played by Sharon James (Completely High School). Charlotte Aubin (The emperor) is Pascale, a 35-year-old mother who has just poisoned her two children, but one of them, little Madeleine, survives… Once again, the screenwriters of Black beastPatrick Lowe and Annabelle Poisson, tackle the inexplicable in a nuanced fiction that addresses the complexity and darkness of the human soul.
As for the series Raspberry time, which was previewed at the Berlinale in 2022, it is Guillaume Lonergan (Audrey came back) who succeeds Philippe Falardeau (Mr. Lazhar) for the rest. So return to the farm run by a dysfunctional family, the Conleys, straight out of the imagination of the authors Florence Longpré (Can you hear me ?) and Suzie Bouchard (Between two sheets), to reconnect with Élisabeth, the character played by Sandrine Bisson (nineteen eighty one). It is Christmas Eve and she is mourning the absence of Francisco in her life. But now, a large-scale project, the construction of a greenhouse, will occupy his thoughts until spring, not without some worries. Of course, tensions within the clan are still felt, particularly with Martha, played by Micheline Lanctôt, who goes out of her way to obtain her shares of the farm, and with her sons, Junior and William. Originally at the heart of the story, the seasonal workers are always there and also have things to say. Whatever the case, it is indeed love in all its forms that punctuates the second season.
