(London) The Prince and Princess of Wales were “extremely touched” by the messages of support they received after the news of Kate’s cancer, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said in a statement.
“Both the prince and princess were extremely touched by the messages of sympathy [envoyés par] people from the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world,” after Kate’s video in which she announced she had cancer, the spokesperson said on Saturday evening.
“They are extremely moved by the warmth and support from the public,” he added.
Kate and William “are grateful for the understanding [du public concernant] their request for respect for privacy during this period,” concluded the spokesperson.
After weeks of rumors about her state of health, Princess Kate, 42, announced Friday evening that she was suffering from cancer, the nature of which she did not specify.
The wife of the heir to the British throne, William, has started preventive chemotherapy treatment.
The announcement was followed by numerous messages of support from political leaders, celebrities and members of the public.
On Sunday, the Princess of Wales, who is very popular in the United Kingdom, once again made the headlines in the British press.

THE Sunday Telegraph chose to put a photo of Kate and William on its front page, headlined by “the prince’s pride in the face of his wife’s courage”.
According to Sunday Times, Kate wrote “every word” of her message broadcast Friday evening. She felt that announcing her cancer herself in a video was “more human,” according to one of her friends quoted by the newspaper.
