Yves Michaud is no more. He died at the age of 94.

This admirable patriot placed the fight for the French language and Quebec identity at the heart of his commitment. He was a flamboyant independentist. He also mobilized to defend small shareholders against a capitalism tending to crush them.
However, when it was time to recapitulate his existence and pay tribute to him, attention was focused on the Michaud affair, of sad memory, which dates back to the year 2000.

Nationalism
A little reminder of the events. At the end of the 1990s, the PQ, haunted by the post-referendum guilty conscience and Jacques Parizeau’s declaration on “ethnic votes”, no longer dared to defend the French language.
Lucien Bouchard, a man of value, but who at that moment committed a serious mistake, even said that he would no longer dare to look in the mirror if we restored Law 101.
Yves Michaud does not tolerate this drift and intends to run for Mercier’s inauguration, to become a deputy, and guardian of nationalism in the PQ caucus.
Lucien Bouchard wants to get rid of it. Then he had an odious accusation launched against him. As part of a twisted operation carried out by two deputies that Lucien Bouchard was quick to support, he was accused of anti-Semitism, and the National Assembly condemned him for it, in a famous motion.
But there is a problem: the National Assembly never specified the comments it condemned.
For good reason: Michaud has never made the slightest anti-Semitic comment. This motion was an odious plot.

Honor
Over the years, we have come to recognize it. Michaud received apologies from many parliamentarians who had voted against him.
It was a start of repair.
But François Legault, who voted for the odious motion at the time, says he is still comfortable with his vote.
So we will ask him: what comments did he condemn at the time, exactly? And if he is not capable of doing so, what is stopping him, even posthumously, from clearing the honor of Yves Michaud?
