A 40-year-old won over 200,000 euros (around $ 287,000) on New Years Day playing at the Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) casino after wagering 80 euro cents ($ 1.15) in a slot machine, the director of the establishment told AFP on Sunday.

“This is a person new to gambling and slot machines, who was on vacation and was accompanying his mother. It won 209,715.20 euros ($ 301,448.82), it is the second biggest jackpot of the establishment since the opening of the slot machines 30 years ago ”, explained the director of the casino Barrière François -Stéphane Vergne.
After a bet of 80 euro cents on Saturday around 5:00 p.m., the machine, which takes the form of a large screen, doubled the winnings, paying bonuses, before reaching the final six-figure sum.
“Often people don’t realize what’s happening to them. She was a little surprised, we isolated her and offered her a small glass of champagne, ”added Mr. Vergne.
In 2011, a player won the sum of 425,000 euros ($ 610,903.50) after wagering 60 cents (86 cents) at the same establishment.
