Actor Emmet Walsh died Tuesday in Vermont at the age of 88, his manager Sandy Joseph confirmed.
Emmet Walsh has brought his unique face and unsettling presence to more than 100 films, including Blood Simple, Blade Runner, Straight Time And The Jerk.
His most notorious role is that of a crooked Texan private detective in Blood Simple, the directorial debut of Joel and Ethan Coen, who wrote the role for Walsh. His characters were often from the South, but Walsh grew up in Vermont, near the United States-Canada border.
He began acting in films in his late 30s and was still working in his 80s.
