If the Eiffel Tower fascinates today, it was not always unanimous. This is what the exhibition “The Paris of Modernity” shows, at the Petit Palais museum.
With its strange metallic silhouette, the Eiffel Tower is today the most famous monument in the world. However, at the beginning of the 20th century, some people found it ugly, and even dreamed of making it disappear. But why is it so fascinating? With its 312 meters, the tallest tower in the world was only surpassed in 1930. The “iron lady” is also at the cutting edge of technology, since it hosts the first radio antennas.
