Property taxes are expected to rise again this year. The bill could jump by at least 3.9% according to estimates. In Saint-Étienne, in the Loire, the increase could soar by 15%.
The prospect of an increase in taxation looms in Saint-Étienne (Loire). In addition to the 3.9% increase nationally, the city wants to raise its property tax by 15% this year. Some owners met believe that these costs should be better distributed. “As owners, we are taxed more and more. There should be a small portion for tenants”estimates one of them.
Taxes that have not increased since 2014
The city has no choice but to raise the property tax. The increase in expenses linked to inflation, as well as the drop in state allocations, are forcing it to increase the only local tax it has left. To justify its intention to increase the property tax, the town hall also wishes to point out that the city’s taxes have not increased since 2014.
