Shortage of doctors: a commune in Puy-de-Dôme launches a seduction operation
To combat the resurgence of medical deserts, certain municipalities have decided to take matters into their own hands. Example with the village of Saint-Rémy-sur-Durolle, in Puy-de-Dôme, which is trying to convince a general practitioner to come and settle.

Preserved environment, close to nature and major roads, with commerce and tourist activity. An unusual CV has been published on social networks. The candidate is not a person looking for work but a municipality. Saint-Rémy-sur-Durolle (Puy-de-Dôme), 1,800 inhabitants, already has a medical office with a doctor. Overwhelmed, he seeks to recruit a second general practitioner.
The municipality focuses on its living environment
Alone, Doctor Farny watches over the health of nearly 4,000 patients, three times more than the usual average for a general practitioner. All day long he goes through consultations. “I can’t take it anymore, I work 70 hours a week”, confides Doctor Pascal Farny. To recruit a second doctor, the municipality even offers to cover the costs of the office, already ready and equipped. The town is hopeful and is banking on its living environment and the conditions it offers to attract people.
