Sylvain Augier learned of his illness at 35
As our colleagues at TV Mag, the ex-host felt the first symptoms upon his return from the race in France. Aged 35 at the time, he felt violent abdominal pain while he was in his hotel room in Brest. While he was thinking about a heart attack, the doctors told him that he was bipolar.
For a long time, he had difficulty accepting his illness, so much so that he considered suicide in the early 2000s, in front of a TGV that was coming at 160 km/h. “In 2006, you were removed from France 3, supposedly because you were having trouble recovering from a motorcycle accident, is this story true?”Maxime Guény asked him before Sylvain Augier revealed to him: “I had a motorcycle accident in Corsica, but I’m not sure that’s why I was left out…” To his death, Sylvain Augier never really knew the reason for his ouster.
