The Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Quebec (FCCQ) believes that the completion of housing construction and conversion projects must accelerate. She will hold a press conference on this subject on Monday in Montreal. The FCCQ intends to present “possible solutions” to the housing shortage, in the company of the chambers of commerce of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Lanaudière.
In February 2024, the monthly seasonally adjusted annualized number of housing starts in Canada jumped 14% from the previous month, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. In Quebec, however, the number saw a drop of 11% for this same period, according to the organization.
