Six years have passed since the disappearance of Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou. A photo of the boy released Tuesday gives the public a glimpse of what he might look like now, reviving the family’s hopes of finding the child.
The aging of the photo of the missing boy is significant for the family. “This initiative aims to revive public interest in my son and stimulate collective memory. We sincerely hope that this will encourage anyone with information to come forward, to help us in our quest to find him,” Ariel’s father said in a statement.
The Réseau Enfants-Retour, a support organization for families affected by the disappearance of a child, released a photo on Tuesday taken by experts from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The initiative allows the public to get a glimpse of what Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou would look like today and to request any new information that could help the authorities.
“We stand by Ariel’s family and support them in their search for answers. Our hope persists: every missing child deserves to be remembered,” underlines Mélanie Aubut, General Director of the Returning Children Network.
Young Ariel was 10 years old at the time of her disappearance 6 years ago. He was last seen on March 12, 2018, leaving his home in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough to go to a friend’s house. He then wore a black coat with a hood, gray pants, and yellow shoes. The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) is continuing its investigation into his disappearance.
