Energy crisis: the Colmar market will not be heated
(France 3)
The organizers of the Colmar market, in Haut-Rhin, have announced that exhibitors will not be allowed to heat their chalets. A decision which worries those first concerned.
This year, at the Christmas market in Colmar (Haut-Rhin), you will certainly have to pile up the vests and down jackets. In fact, the organizers have announced that there will no longer be additional heating in the 174 chalets. The tourist office is considering solutions such as reinforced floors, less permeable to the cold. However, the exhibitors are rather resigned, Thursday September 22. “We have no choice because the decree is there”explains Jean-Jacques Better, president of the Union of hotel trades and industries of Haut-Rhin (UMIH).
Measures in Strasbourg?
Christmas markets remain a boon for traders. There is therefore no question of giving up participation, even if it means making concessions. The gourmet market will close an hour earlier, around 9 p.m., to save energy. Even in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), Christmas will have to be approached with sobriety, but the city leaves itself a little time before discussing the issue with its exhibitors.
