French football is becoming more and more feminine. Nine days after the first final in the history of the French women’s team, lost against Spain (2-0), the French Football Federation announced a record number of licensees in France, Friday March 8. In total, 247,160 licenses were distributed to women in 2024, which represents an increase of 12% compared to the figures for 2023. In total, they are distributed among more than 8,000 clubs in France, including 4,000 in strictly female teams.
The Federation halfway to its objectives
If the number of players, managers and referees has followed a gradual increase, it is on the benches that the progression is most notable. The FFF announces a total of 1,359 coaches and educators, an increase of 20.8% since the 2021-2022 season.
Launched in April 2023 by the president of the FFF Philippe Diallo, the high-level development plan brings encouraging initial results, but There is still a long way to go to reach the objective of 500,000 licenses by 2028, set last October.
