(Washington) Sweden became Thursday the 32e member of NATO with the delivery of official documents during a ceremony in Washington, the Scandinavian country having chosen, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, to put an end to two centuries of non-alignment.
“All good things come to those who wait,” declared the head of American diplomacy Antony Blinken, referring to a long ratification process among the 31 members. The Secretary of State estimated that this integration demonstrates the “strategic debacle” suffered by Russia.
More details to come.
