Patrick Watson, Jacques, Marie Davidson and dozens of others will take part in the celebration of the 25e anniversary of the MUTEK festival, from August 20 to 25, in the heart of Montreal’s Quartier des spectacles.
The first wave of artists invited to the electronic music and digital creativity event was revealed on Wednesday. Artists from the four corners of the world are invited to share this celebration of “innovation and the spirit of unity” with the Montreal public this year.
In total, we have announced nearly 40 live performances for electronic music lovers, who will be entitled to concerts by various artists such as the producer Kode9, founder of Hyperdub Records, or the American DJ Octo Octa, or the German producer Pole, who participated in the very first edition of MUTEK in 2000.
Among the guests, we also include Quebecer Patrick Watson, who will present a unique performance entitled Film Scores for No One: a Patrick Watson project. The artist had already presented a special project at MUTEK in 2021 and is once again embarking on new explorations.
Also from the local scene, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Marie Davidson, Martin Messier, Myriam Bleau and Priori will be there, as will saxophonist and composer Colin Stetson, present for the first time at the festival.
Jacques and the others
French musician Jacques, who we saw perform on stage during the recent Victoires de la Musique, will come to Montreal to defend his recent album, IMPORTANCEOFVIDEO 2.0.
Also on the bill: Aïsha Devi, Cobblestone Jazz, Fred Everything, N3ZHA, Waajeed, Zoë Mc Pherson & Alessandra Leone, as well as several others.
In parallel with the festival, the MUTEK Forum will bring together artists, researchers, technology professionals, digital experts and innovators, from August 20 to 23, at the Monument-National. It will host performative speeches, workshops, master classes, interactive panels and several other activities to explore the latest trends in digital technology.
The entire MUTEK program will be revealed next May. However, weekend passes and passports are already on sale at the MUTEK festival ticket office.
