Mamadou Kalilou Barry committed Wednesday to admitting his guilt to two counts of sexual assault for a gang rape committed on two 15-year-old minors with the help of two accomplices in August 2021.

Barry made himself known in 2021 when he made a public outing to denounce the actions of the SPVQ during the arrest of one of his friends, Pacifique Niyokwizera. The young man had given several interviews to denounce police brutality, without realizing that he himself was at that time being targeted by a police investigation.
On Wednesday, the 22-year-old pledged to plead guilty to the two counts of assault against him at a later date. He has already recognized the factual pattern of events recounted by the Crown.

Group relationship
In August 2021, Barry and two minor friends show up to a birthday party at a residence where “several dozen young people” are present.
His two accomplices chat with two teenage girls and the foursome agree to go upstairs for sex. Each young girl then accompanies a boy and there is never a question of four-way exchanges, but rather of simultaneous relationships in the same room.
Mamadou Kalilou Barry, however, joins the group in the bedroom and engages in sexual antics.
“The three boys will then exchange positions without the consent of the two young girls,” explained the Crown prosecutor, Mr.e Régis Juneau-Drolet, specifying that there were no acts of violence, but that due to the provisions of the Criminal Code, 15-year-old girls could not consent to group relations.
Accomplices also accused
The case was postponed until May 16 since the parties requested the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Barry’s two accomplices in this story also entered guilty pleas, but in juvenile court since both were minors at the time of the facts. The first saw his case conclude with the imposition of community service while the second is still waiting to receive his sentence.
Mamadou Kalilou Barry was also arrested in another sexual assault case, but he was acquitted after his trial last October.
