This is one of the threats weighing on biodiversity across the planet: poaching. In 2023, nearly 500 rhinos were victims of poaching in South Africa, a figure up 11% according to the country’s count. But in France too, networks are regularly dismantled, they target deer or even wild boars, for example.
To talk about it in today’s show: Eugénie Pimont, wildlife cybercrime campaign manager at IFAW, the International Fund for Animal Welfare. He answers questions from CM2 students at the PEF school in SAint-Ouen.
To open the show, Milo wants to know which animal is the most poached. Lehna wants to know what they are for “killed animals”. Dimitri wonders where the poaching is taking place. “What are the laws that protect animals?” Suzanne questions. Then Milo is interested in the reasons that lead to poaching. “Are there any animals that don’t get poached?” Lou asks to finish.
