A three-year-old child was seriously injured in a snowmobile accident Thursday afternoon in Roberval in Lac Saint-Jean.
Around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, the young toddler, installed on an inflatable object, was being pulled by an adult driving a snowmobile. The accident occurred when the driver hit a tree. “The child had fairly significant injuries,” said Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The child was taken to the Roberval hospital center. In the evening, he was taken by plane to Ste-Justine hospital. His life is now out of danger, the spokesperson said on Friday.
An investigator and a reconstructionist went to the scene to analyze the scene. “No one is charged at the moment,” said Mme Bilodeau.
The Sûreté du Québec reminds that anyone who rides on a snowmobile or is pulled by it must wear a protective helmet that meets the standards of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec.
