Bo Horvat scored the goal that gave the New York Islanders the lead early in the third period in a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.
Horvat made it 3-2 with an individual effort. He got around defender Nick Leddy, collected his own rebound and went around the net to score 55 seconds into the final period.
Kyle Palmieri, Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Mathew Barzal also scored in this fourth victory in a row for the Islanders, who moved to within four points of the Philadelphia Flyers and third place in the Metropolitan Division.
Ilya Sorokin finished his evening’s work with 19 saves. He is 5-1-0 since losing 6-5 in overtime to the New York Rangers on February 18 at MetLife Stadium in the Stadium Series.
Alexey Toropchenko and Jordan Kyrou made the red light shine for the Blues, who suffered a first defeat in three games. Joel Hofer made 29 saves.

Jeff Carter and Reilly Smith scored just over a minute apart in the third period and the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3 on Tuesday.
Smith added two assists to reach 500 career points in the National Hockey League.
Jesse Puljujarvi, Evgeni Malkin and Rickard Rakell were the other scorers for the Penguins, who beat their Metropolitan Division rivals for 10e times in 11 meetings. Ryan Graves was complicit in two goals.
Tristan Jarry stopped 33 pucks and the Penguins bounced back from a tough four-game trip out west (1-3-0) that dealt a big blow to their playoff chances.
Johnny Gaudreau, Andrew Peeke and Jack Roslovic moved the ropes for the Blue Jackets. Rookie Jet Greaves made 26 saves in his fourth career start.

The Panthers win 5-3 against the Devils

Nick Cousins scored twice and the Florida Panthers won 5-3 to spoil interim head coach Travis Green’s debut as the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.
Eetu Luostarinen, Evan Rodrigues and Sam Reinhart also scored for the Panthers, who have won their last six games and 12 of their last 13. They lead the National Hockey League standings with 43 wins and 90 points.
Anthony Stolarz made 21 saves as 35-year-old veteran Sergei Bobrovsky enjoyed a day off after an excellent performance against the New York Rangers on Monday.
Jack Hughes, Timo Meier and Colin Miller responded for the Devils, who were playing their first game since general manager Tom Fitzgerald fired head coach Lindy Ruff. The move came less than a year after he led the club to its best ever points season.

The Kraken has the upper hand 4-3 over the Jets

Andre Burakovsky scored the game-winning goal on a power play with 2:39 remaining in the third period and the Seattle Kraken defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 on Tuesday.
After Jets forward Mason Appleton blocked a shot, Burakovsky collected the puck and beat Connor Hellebuyck with an over-the-glove shot.
Jared McCann had a goal and two assists in the victory. Justin Schultz and Tomas Tatar also made moves for the Kraken.
Joey Daccord made 30 saves, helping the Kraken earn at least a point in eight of their last 10 games (7-2-1).
Kyle Connor, Adam Lowry and Nino Niederreiter responded for the Manitoba team. Appleton was complicit in two goals. Hellebuyck stopped 20 shots.
With an assist, Jets forward Mark Scheifele reached the plateau of 700 points in the National Hockey League, having played 778e career match.
