Two women lost their lives in separate accidents in the Lanaudière region just before New Year’s Day.
A 46-year-old woman was struck by a van while walking along the edge of Rang Sainte-Rose in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes at around 8:45 p.m. Thursday evening.
She was taken to hospital in critical condition. His death was subsequently pronounced. “Everything indicates that it was an accident,” said the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
Snowmobile accident
Near Saint-Michel-des-Saints, a hundred kilometers to the north, a young 18-year-old driver lost her life in a snowmobile accident on Friday. She was from Rosemère.
At around 11:30 a.m., the snowmobile left the trail and struck a tree, near Middle Bay Road. A younger passenger also sustained minor injuries. Resuscitation maneuvers were carried out on site. The death of the young woman was unfortunately noted in the hospital.
