More political than artistic, the criticism quickly arose on the social network X.

On the side of the National Rally, the president of the party, Jordan Bardella believes that this poster embodies “the contempt for our tricolor flag, the cancellation of our Christian heritage”. The spokesperson for RN elected officials in the National Assembly, Thomas Ménage, deplores “a sadly ridiculous example of the great erasure of France”. Nicolas Meizonnet castigating “Wokism (which) must be fought relentlessly everywhere”.

A poster which “denies the history of France”

His competitor at Les Républicains, François-Xavier Bellamy, more directly denounced those who “are ready to deny France to the point of distorting reality to cancel its history”focusing on the cross which “constitutes the deeper meaning” invalidities.
