From bulletproof vests to rocket launchers, assault rifles, cannons and fighter jet fuel. More than two years after the start of the war in Ukraine, the Ministry of the Armed Forces publishes the list, presented as exhaustive, of the weapons and military equipment that France provided to the country in the context of this conflict. Most of these materials were already known, but not necessarily their quantities.
In all, around fifty different weapons and military equipment were supplied to the Ukrainian forces between February 24, 2022 and December 31, 2023. They were not only promised, but actually delivered, underline ministerial sources from the International Editorial Team of Radio France.
Thousands of weapons
Among the heaviest equipment, for artillery, there are 50 cannons and rocket launchers, including 30 Caesar cannons. There are also 10 ground-to-air batteries, including a SAMT/P Mamba, as well as 38 light tanks. In this list, there are also 250 VAB armored vehicles, particularly for transporting troops, as well as 1000 Famas assault rifles and 560 heavy machine guns. On the ammunition side, this represents nearly 3 million bullets and cartridges.
“France has delivered a total value of 2.615 billion euros of military equipment to Ukraine, to which are added 1.2 billion euros given to the European Peace Facility (EFF), i.e. support of more than 3.8 billion euros between February 24, 2022 and December 31, 2023“, underlines the Ministry of the Armed Forces. A figure higher than that established by the German research institute Kiel Institute, which only estimates French military aid at 640 million euros.
