In Israel, the site of the Nova music festival (Reim, Israel), where 364 victims died during the Hamas attack, has become a place of contemplation.
Trees, recently planted to bring new life to a bereaved place. At the foot of each, the portrait of one of the victims of the October 7 attacks. On the website of the Nova music festival (Réïm, Israel), near the Gaza Strip, 364 festival-goers were killed by Hamas commandos. Every week, thousands of visitors come to worship. Some are accompanied by a tourist guide.
One of the few attacked sites open
“On the day of October 7 here, young people came to dance and sing. For me, it was a symbol of peace, of joy. Those who live on the other side didn’t want it and came here to ruin everything”, confides Frédéric Coscas, tourist guide and father of a survivor of the Nova festival. Despite the explosions coming from Gaza, which sometimes disturb the tranquility of this place of pilgrimage, the Nova site is one of the few open to visitors out of the 40 attacked by Hamas.
