If you have been the victim of theft or fraud, know that you will no longer need to open the door of a police station or gendarmerie. You can file a complaint from your home with an agent by videoconference. The system is in the testing phase in Sarthe and in around fifteen municipalities in Yvelines, but since Monday February 26, it is expected to become widespread almost everywhere in France before the fall. Remote complaint filing to relieve police station congestion, but also to facilitate the process.
Two million eligible complaints each year
Concretely, on your mobile phone or on your computer, you must go to masecurite.interieur.gouv.fr. After identifying yourself securely, you must choose an appointment slot. The video exchange begins. At the end, the complaint is filed. This only works for simple offenses, from bicycle theft to neighborhood conflict, or even cyberharassment. Each year, no less than two million complaints are eligible for this simplified procedure, assures the Head of State.
