Vancouver: the summary of United States – France (M)
The summary of the small final between the United States and France – (France TV Sport)
Antoine Dupont ends his first tournament with the French rugby sevens team on a positive note, with a try in the small final against the United States, on the night of Sunday to Monday.
New Zealand definitely does not smile on the Blues of rugby sevens. After the defeat of the French against the All Blacks Sevens in the semi-finals of the tournament in Vancouver (Canada), the French in turn lost against the New Zealanders in the final, Sunday February 25 (35-19). The two French teams still finished as medalists, since the Blues won the bronze medal in the small final against the United States (42-12).
Against the Americans, Antoine Dupont initially had a mixed start to the match. Established, he was guilty of a voluntary forward, synonymous with a yellow card and a two-minute exclusion, during which his teammates conceded two tries. But the Toulouse player then made up for it by offering two tries to Theo Forner and Aaron Grandidier, then by flattening the ball himself in the in-goal.
Vancouver: Antoine Dupont plays the American defense to secure 3rd place for the Blues
As a symbol, Antoine Dupont scored France’s last try in this Vancouver Tournament, a sumptuous solo try which allowed the Blues to win 42 to 12 against the United States and obtain the bronze medal, their best result this season. – ()
“Honestly, he’s a great player, he helps us in all areas of the game. He showed his qualities this weekend”, declared his teammate William Iraguha on the microphone of the broadcaster Rugbypass. For his first six matches with the Seven, Antoine Dupont was started twice and put in the best conditions to start. He scored three tries and also contributed defensively, as against New Zealand with a snatch which led to a French try, however insufficient to win.
The French will have to wait for gold
The Blues experienced the same misfortune against the New Zealanders. The Olympic vice-champions failed against those who had already beaten them in the final of the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. Lacking solidity in defense, they trailed 28-7 at the break and were finally beaten 35-19.

The French are on the podium for the third time in four tournaments this season, but are still looking for their first victory on the circuit. They occupy third place in the world rankings five months before the Paris Olympic Games and will try to achieve their first success during the next tournament, in Los Angeles (United States), from March 1 to 3.
