“I’m dying” to find the Ligue 2 championship

“Someone young, who can accompany us over time, someone who knows the French Ligue 2 and Ligue 1 championship well, and who is open to languages” : Max Marty, general manager of GF38, summarizes in a few words the profile sought after the sidelining of coach Maurizio Jacobacci.

“Vincent ticked all the boxes” Max Marty concludes. “I’m dying to ! adds Vincent Hognon, 47, newly appointed to the post of coach of the Grenoble club. I wanted to find the land, to find the French Ligue 2 championship (…). I’ve been looking for a place to flourish for a while “ he explains during the presentation press conference organized this Thursday at the Stade des Alpes. The Lorrainer had left FC Metz where he was assistant in the fall of 2020, before joining Luxembourg club FC Swift Hesperange a few months later as head coach.

“I am a positive person” ‘

Vincent Hognon says he has the will to “build something over time”. But he will first have to deal with the emergency: because the next GF38 match is scheduled for January 8, in barely 10 days, against AJ Auxerre (7 p.m. at the Stade des Alpes). To move up the rankings and distance himself from the relegation zone (Grenoble is 16th in Ligue 2), the new coach counts “to create a positive dynamic. As long as there is quality, if we manage to put the players in confidence and in shape, that will go back quite naturally.”

“I will obviously meet the players as soon as possible, continues Vincent Hognon, to discuss, exchange, see what was wrong with the first part of the season, see what more they could do. When we are 16th and there is potential, we absolutely have to do more and better. I repeat: there is quality in this group. And the main task is to restore confidence, to be in a positive dynamic … because I am a positive person. ”
