The Lorrainer had left FC Metz where he was assistant in the fall of 2020, before joining Luxembourg club FC Swift Hesperange a few months later as head coach.

Vincent Hognon says he has the will to “build something over time”. But he will first have to deal with the emergency: because the next GF38 match is scheduled for January 8, in barely 10 days, against AJ Auxerre (7 p.m. at the Stade des Alpes). To move up the rankings and distance himself from the relegation zone (Grenoble is 16th in Ligue 2), the new coach counts “to create a positive dynamic. As long as there is quality, if we manage to put the players in confidence and in shape, that will go back quite naturally.”
