And Duhan van der Merwe appeared. While England got off to a flying start in Edinburgh, the winger scored a formidable hat-trick (20th, 30th, 45th) to lead the XV du Chardon to victory (30-21), Saturday February 24 for the third day of the Six Nations Tournament. First at the conclusion of a first-hand attack, Van der Merwe then crossed the English defense on a recovery ball, before improving a pass to the foot of Finn Russell.
The English, in front since the 5th minute (try by George Furbank), never recovered and did not win a defensive bonus. Second with 9 points (pending France-Italy on Sunday), Scotland retains hope of winning the Tournament. It will be necessary to dislodge Ireland (15 points), the only one capable of making the Grand Slam with this English defeat.
