While some Ukrainians are very worried, others remain hopeful that their army will triumph against the Russians, two years after the start of the war.
On a market in Boutcha (Ukraine), there was an uneasy calm on Friday February 23. Life continues almost normally, two years after the start of the war. If the front is several hundred kilometers away, the Russian threat comes from the sky. “We are very worried, we do not sleep at night. We do not have time to live. We are bombed at least once a week”confides a resident.
“I believe we can win”
A few hundred meters away, a survivor of the Russian invasion lives alone in temporary accommodation of less than 10 m², in Mochchoun (Ukraine). “My wife is dead, killed by a Russian shell in the courtyard”, he says. The capture of Avdiivka (Ukraine) by Kremlin forces, however, did not dampen his optimism. “I believe we can win”, he says. Ukrainians still have confidence in their army.
