Amélie Mauresmo’s former partner, Marie-Bénédicte Hurel, currently in divorce proceedings, is appealing her conviction for “moral harassment”, reported Thursday February 22 France Bleu Pays Basque. Tuesday February 13, she was sentenced by the Bayonne court to four months in prison for moral harassment. She then announced her intention to appeal, which has now been done. A new trial will therefore take place before the Court of Appeal of Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques). The date has not yet been set.
“The call was necessary”
According to Marie-Bénédicte Hurel’s lawyer, Thierry Sagardoytho, “the call was necessary.” He adds that “the court acquitted her of four of the five offenses with which she was accused by the prosecution. By acquitting the defendant of the acts of moral harassment alleged to the detriment of Amélie Mauresmo’s current partner, the court necessarily opened the way to a appeal since the acts of moral harassment alleged to the detriment of Amélie Mauresmo are strictly identical”.
Amélie Mauresmo and Marie-Bénédicte Hurel have been a couple since 2014 and married since 2021. They are mothers of two children. The former world number one tennis player decided to initiate divorce proceedings in 2023. Since then, Amélie Mauresmo claims to have been harassed.
