As the humanitarian situation worsens in Gaza, the Israeli government published a video on the social network refugees. Internet users accuse Israel of manipulating information. The published video does not actually illustrate a humanitarian camp in Palestinian territory. This is a Ukrainian refugee camp.
The Israeli government acknowledged the origin of the video
The original video was taken in Moldova, in March 2022, just after Russia invaded Ukraine. The Israeli government unpublished the video and acknowledged that the footage was not filmed in the Palestinian territories. On the social network X, Israel makes a formal error, saying it used the video “for illustrative purposes”. Some Israeli political leaders recognize that the war is also played out in communication on social networks.
