The media drive has so far raised 3.8 million during its holiday fundraiser, an “unexpected result”.
Donations of money and food will help “a hundred food aid organizations and thousands of families from across Quebec”, rejoiced the Guignolée Thursday in a press release.
The 2020 record of 4 million remains unbeaten for the moment, but the picking is not yet over, and Quebecers will have until December 31 – Friday – to contribute.
“Once again, Quebecers have shown great generosity and remarkable solidarity. The media thank the population from the bottom of their hearts, ”said the organization, which also wished to thank its partners for making the event possible.
On the drive
Since 2001, the media drive has been collecting food and money during the holiday season, in order to support local food aid counters.
Participants include Radio-Canada, Télé-Québec, RDS, TVA and the Journal de Montréal, in addition to radio stations such as 96.9 CKOI, Énergie and Rythme 105.7.
Donation boxes have been placed in several Jean Coutu pharmacies and Provigo and Maxi supermarkets in the province. It is also possible to donate money online, or by texting NOEL to 20 222 for a $ 10 donation.
Actress Geneviève Schmidt, magician Luc Langevin and drag queen Rita Baga were in the game this year, appearing in ads that “have been viewed over 191,000 times” on social media.
The other spokespersons who have helped out are the actors Sophie Cadieux, Salomé Corbo and Félix-Antoine Tremblay, the comedians Mario Jean and Matthieu Pepper and the hosts Josée Lavigueur, Pascal Morrissette and Anne-Marie Withenshaw.
