While France has started the vaccine booster campaign against Covid-19, Israel has taken a new step in the matter, Thursday, December 30, reports The Times of Israel. At a press conference, the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Nachman Ash, approved the start of the administration of a fourth dose of the vaccine for people with compromised immunity.

The manager justifies this partial green light by the greatest “vulnerability” of these people facing the Omicron variant, which is expanding rapidly in the country. Some caregivers can already receive this fourth dose, as part of a clinical trial.

Last week, two expert committees in the Hebrew state recommended the administration of this fourth dose for people over 60 years of age, as well as those at risk. But the Ministry of Health has chosen not to follow, for the moment, this recommendation for seniors.

According to Nachman Ash, health authorities will now study a possible expansion of this fourth dose, after the country was the first to launch the first recall campaign, last July.
