(Ghaziyeh) Au moins deux frappes israéliennes ont visé une localité proche de la principale ville du sud du Liban, faisant 14 blessés, a indiqué à l’AFP une source sécuritaire, l’armée israélienne disant avoir visé des « dépôts d’armes du Hezbollah ».
Depuis l’attaque sans précédent du Hamas palestinien dans le sud d’Israël le 7 octobre, le Hezbollah libanais échange régulièrement des tirs meurtriers avec l’armée israélienne à la frontière israélo-libanaise.
Un photographe de l’AFP a entendu au moins deux explosions à quelques secondes d’intervalle à Ghaziyeh, située à une trentaine de kilomètres de la frontière avec Israël.
Selon lui, l’un des raids a visé un entrepôt situé à proximité de l’autoroute côtière et au-dessus duquel s’échappait un épais nuage de fumée. Des ambulances se sont rendues sur les lieux.
Selon l’Agence nationale d’information (ANI, officielle), les frappes ont visé un entrepôt où étaient fabriqués des pneus et des générateurs électriques, ainsi que les environs d’une usine, faisant « 14 blessés, pour la plupart des travailleurs syriens et palestiniens ».
Deux pompiers ont été blessés en tentant de maîtriser l’incendie qui s’est déclaré, selon la même source.

Dans un communiqué, l’armée israélienne a déclaré que son aviation avait frappé « deux entrepôts d’armes du Hezbollah adjacents à Saïda », en réponse au « lancement d’un drone vers […] northern Israel.

The Israeli army responds with aerial and artillery bombardments which it says target the party’s “infrastructure” and the movements of fighters near the border.

The Shiite party, which says it acts in support of the Islamist movement Hamas, after the war launched by Israel against its ally in Gaza, did not immediately claim responsibility for the drone attack.
For its part, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry urged the international community to condemn “ongoing” Israeli attacks and to put pressure on Israel “to stop its provocative attempts […] aimed at dragging Lebanon into a war that (Beirut) seeks to prevent.”
Cross-border violence escalated last week, with Israel launching a series of deadly strikes against southern Lebanon on Wednesday, which left at least 15 dead, including ten civilians, according to an AFP count.
Seven members of the same family were killed in one of the strikes against the town of Nabatiyeh.
The strikes were carried out in retaliation for an unclaimed rocket attack from Lebanon on a military base in northern Israel, which killed a female soldier.
The strikes on Ghaziyeh are among the few in-depth Israeli bombardments in four months, with most hostilities with its pro-Iranian enemy Hezbollah so far limited to border areas.
In more than four months, at least 269 people, mostly fighters from Hezbollah and other allied groups but also 40 civilians, have been killed in southern Lebanon, according to an AFP count.
On the Israeli side, ten soldiers and six civilians were killed, according to the army.
