Singer Charlotte Cardin was invited to sing Canada’s national anthem during the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday evening in Indianapolis.
While several Internet users congratulated the Quebec artist for her vocal performance and her presence at this event, others were annoyed by the fact that she performed “O Canada” in English only.
“A Quebecer can’t be bothered to sing a few lines in French,” wrote a user of the X network.
“She could have sung it in French, it seems to me,” says another user.
Some people have argued that the choice of the national league’s language was probably not Charlotte Cardin’s, but rather the NBA’s.
