(Moscow) Russian President Vladimir Putin assured that “what is happening” in Ukraine is a “question of life and death” for Russia, while for the West it is only a question of “improving [sa] tactical position,” in an interview broadcast on Sunday.
Vladimir Putin considered that it was “important” for Russians and foreigners alike “to understand our state of mind, to understand to what extent what is happening around Ukraine is sensitive and important for our country”.
” For [l’Occident], this is an improvement in their tactical position. But for us, it is our destiny, it is a question of life or death,” he said, according to an excerpt of an interview published on the social networks of the journalist who interviewed him, Pavel Zaroubine.
The Russian president spoke of his recent interview with American host Tucker Carlson, very popular among conservatives.
This interview, the first granted by Vladimir Putin to a Western media since the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine in February 2022, was highly scrutinized. It has been watched more than 200 million times on X.
In this message lasting more than two hours to the Americans and Europeans, Mr. Putin notably assured that a defeat for Russia in Ukraine was “impossible” while saying he was ready for a “dialogue” with the West.
