Almost two years after hitting Chris Rock in the middle of the Oscars ceremony, actor Will Smith seems to be back on track: he has just signed a contract to play the lead role in the thriller Sugar Banditsthe magazine tells us Variety.
The film is based on the book Devils in Exile, published in 2011. Its author, Chuck Hogan, will also write the script for the upcoming film, the release date of which remains unknown. The book tells the story of an Iraq War veteran who joins forces with other veterans to intercept drug dealers in Boston.
Will Smith’s latest film, the historical thriller Emancipationdates back to December 2022, and focused on the escape of a black slave from a Louisiana plantation, on 19e century. Its release – limited to a few theaters – was colored by the Oscar controversy.
