Negotiations | The FIQ denounces the “compulsory travel” that Quebec wants to impose

Using examples experienced by nurses, the FIQ denounces the “compulsory travel” that Quebec wants to impose on them, under the term “flexibility”.

During a press conference Thursday in Montreal, the union federation of 80,000 members presented two of its members whose employer wanted to move the care unit, against their will.

One of them, Annabelle Beaudry, who normally works in the psychiatry unit, was asked to work temporarily in the surgical overflow unit.

This question of compulsory travel, to meet the needs of employers, is at the heart of the dispute which persists between the FIQ and the government of Quebec within the framework of negotiations for the renewal of the collective agreement.

Quebec says employers need to fill shifts to provide care. But for the FIQ, displacing nurses in this way amounts to denying their expertise and experience.
