Aggressive driving is a big threat on the roads

Aggressive driving is a big threat to road safety, along with distraction and drinking and driving, according to a recent survey released on Thursday.

According to the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) survey, more than 90% of Canadians say that drivers engage in aggressive forms of driving, such as running red lights or speeding.

“Even though traffic picks up on the roads, aggressive driving remains a major fear for Canadians,” Ian Jack, CAA vice president of public affairs, said in a statement.

Some 92% of Canadians consider cell phone use while driving to be the main cause of distraction, which can be a serious threat to their safety on the roads.

The same proportion of respondents consider that driving while impaired by alcohol or illicit drugs is a direct threat to road safety.

“This is true all year round, but especially during the holidays: Canadians want to arrive safe and sound to be with their loved ones,” said Mr. Jack.

“So we ask you to make informed decisions – be farsighted and stay focused on the road,” he recommended.
