It is thanks to this that Amine Issaoui, tenant, was able to move into a two-room apartment of 43 square meters in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). His home was built on the roof of his building. 5,000 buildings could be raised in Nice
Building an additional floor instead of an additional building is one of the solutions to the shortage of land in Nice and global warming, because the city lacks water and it has no longer been possible to artificialize the soil for two years. The city has already identified 5,000 buildings that could be raised. To speed up these constructions, real estate players are waiting for administrative simplification measures. Nice is one of 22 sectors in France and Overseas supported by the government to accelerate housing production. They will have to build 30,000 by 2027, a quarter of which will be social housing.
