Jourdeness Castle was built in the style of the Palace of Versailles, Taiwan. It offers a total change of scenery to visitors, in a French style.
In Chiayi (Taiwan), the Jourdeness Castle, only two years old, is called the Taiwanese Versailles. The property covers five hectares and attracts up to 3,000 people per day. In the southern tropical region of Taiwan, classical and geometric French-style gardens can be seen. For 25 euros, visitors can try on fashionable outfits at Court. “We rent period dresses to immerse them in the experience of the royal courts of past centuries”explains Kerry Wu, employee of the Jourdeness group.
A man’s dream
This castle is also the ideal place for newlyweds, who can pose in front of a fountain, a replica of the Fountain of the Seas on Place de la Concorde in Paris. The place was built by a man who made his fortune in cosmetics and beauty centers. “Building this French-style castle in Taiwan, modeled on the Palace of Versailles, was my father’s dream. He made it come true”says Chia Chi Chen, CEO of the Jourdeness group.
