New York Jets guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif has a good chance of getting back into action on Sunday, according to his head coach Robert Saleh.
Saleh explained that Duvernay-Tardif and several players could benefit from the amendment to the NFL quarantine rules, which reduces the isolation period from 10 to five days for players who test positive for the virus, whether vaccinated or not. The head coach is optimistic that the former Super Bowl champion will be removed from the list related to the COVID-19 protocol.
“Back on track,” Duvernay-Tardif wrote on his Instagram account on Wednesday. The text was accompanied by an image of the player in training.
The Quebecer was placed on the list of players on the sidelines in connection with the NFL’s COVID-19 protocol, last Thursday. He did not participate in the Jets’ 26-21 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
If Duvernay-Tardif takes part in the match, it will be his seventh this campaign. He started five of the six games he took part in.
The Jets (4-11) will cross swords with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-4) on Sunday.
This will not be the only reinforcement for the New York training. Head coach Saleh led his first practice on Wednesday after he also tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
Tight end coach Ron Middleton replaced Saleh as head coach in the final game.

It was more than 25 Jets players who were sidelined on Tuesday due to positive COVID-19 tests. The picture improved quickly for them.
On Wednesday, the team recovered the services of nine of their players. Substitute quarterback Joe Flacco, tight end Kenny Yeboah, defensive linemen Folorunso Fatukasi, Jonathan Marshall and Tanzel Smart, linebackers Hamsah Nasirildeen and Noah Dawkins, as well as cornerbacks Michael Carter II and Lamar Jackson were expected at Wednesday’s practice.
In addition to Duvernay-Tardif, wide receiver Vyncint Smith, guard Alijah Vera-Tucker, defensive linemen John Franklin-Myers and Hamilcar Rashed Jr. and safety back Ashtyn Davis are presumed to be delisted in link to the coronavirus protocol this week. All of these players should be in uniform for the next Jets game.
