Heat pump seller: fake Hydro-Québec employees found guilty

A company of peddlers posing as Hydro-Québec employees was finally ordered to pay thousands of dollars for duping Quebecers by selling them heat pumps under false representations.

Authorities revealed this week that Alexandre Drolet-Pollock’s company GCG Construction pleaded guilty and will have to pay fines totaling $8,030 for charges under the Consumer Protection Act.

Its employees knock on the doors of homeowners across the province to sell heat pumps at high prices.

Mr. Drolet-Pollock, whose company will have to pay fines of $8,030 for selling its heat pumps under false representations.

“They were accused of having made false or misleading representations to solicit the sale of heat pumps, or of having claimed that with the energy savings and the possibility of receiving a subsidy, the cost of acquiring the device would be practically zero,” explains the Consumer Protection Office (OPC).

Influencer pinched too

Alexandre Lachance, who boasts of driving Lamborghinis, was also ordered to pay $1,847 for this affair.

The controversial Alexandre Lachance, at the wheel of one of his luxurious cars, was also pinned down by the OPC in this affair.

The Office gives few details about it, but claims to criticize Mr. Lachance for “having used a pretext to solicit the sale of a property”.

Another GCG Construction inc. peddler, Benjamin Paris, a 28-year-old resident of Trois-Rivières, was fined $1,133.

Benjamin Paris, representative of GCG Construction, was also fined in this case.

“GCG Construction inc. finally admitted to having falsely declared a status or identity as his own, claiming to have been mandated by Hydro-Québec,” mentions the OPC. All the offenses alleged in this case were committed during the summer of 2021 in Saguenay.

Alexandre Drolet-Pollock, co-owner GCG Construction inc. with entrepreneur Gérald Giroux, blithely boasts on the web of his luxurious lifestyle.

In July 2023, a dealer in the Capitale-Nationale region congratulated him on Facebook for the purchase of a Bayliner brand boat worth more than $100,000.

The resident of Saint-Nicolas, in Lévis, also turned to social networks for a rather unusual project last summer.
