In Chile, Monday February 5, firefighters are preparing to fight against around forty outbreaks that are still active. The dozens of very violent fires which have broken out over several days in the center and south of the country have devastated entire neighborhoods, notably that of Viña del Mar.
In Chile, in the region of Valparaísothe district of Vina del Mar is devastated by flames. On the roads, dozens of cars are charred. Almost everything is reduced to ashes. Some residents are trying to save what they can. For several days, dozens of very violent fires have broken out in the center and South from the country. Many residents did not have time to flee. “I have neighbors who were burned alive here. I wasn’t prepared for this, but I had to find the courage to take one of them and cover her”indicates a resident.
Authorities singled out
Other residents point the finger at the authorities. “No one came here and said: ‘Run!’, nothing. And look: the authorities didn’t come and give us water, gloves, masks, nothing”deplores Yoselin Martinez, victim of the fire. For the fourth consecutive day, 1,400 firefighters are preparing to fight against around forty outbreaks still active, Monday February 5.
