(Baie-Sainte-Catherine) A man was fatally struck by a car Thursday, early in the evening, on Route 138, near Baie-Sainte-Catherine, in the Charlevoix-Est MRC, belonging to the region of the National Capital.
Around 7:45 p.m., emergency services were called to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Route 138, a few kilometers from Baie-Sainte-Catherine.
According to initial findings, it appears that a first vehicle left the road and collided with an electrical pole. The driver then got out of the vehicle and a second vehicle, which was traveling in the west direction, hit him, detailed spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec Camille Savoie.
Emergency services noted the death of the first driver at the scene, while the second driver escaped unhurt.
Route 138 was closed in both directions of traffic and an investigator must go to the scene to establish the precise circumstances of the accident.
