The mother of a victim salutes Emmanuel Macron’s “courage” for having organized such a ceremony in France.
“Here, they barely commemorate the victims, while France considers us.” The parents of Karine Journo, killed during the Hamas attack in Israel on October 7, 2023, tell franceinfo their emotion, on the eve of the tribute to the French victims which will take place in Paris, Wednesday February 7. “We were very moved to be invited to this commemoration”says the mother of the 24-year-old young woman.
Karine Journo’s relatives initially had no news of the 24-year-old after the October 7 attack by Hamas on the Tribe of Nova music festival, where she was. Her parents finally learned on October 17 that their daughter was dead. She worked as a flight attendant in an airline. She suffered a broken foot at the music festival and was unable to escape, according to her parents. “Never in life will we forgive having taken our daughter away from us like this”testifies his mother, Inbal Journo, for franceinfo.

“On the one hand, there is sadness, but there is also pride”, testifies for her part, Tzipora Levy, mother of Yitzhak Levy, also killed during the attack of October 7. The ceremony at Les Invalides will allow the Head of State to salute the memory of “42 fellow citizens died” in the attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement, which led to the death of more than 1,160 people, the majority civilians.
